ABOUT US
Higher Plants, LLC is a San Diego-based contract research organization specializing in innovative research in agriculture and plant science. We collaborate with for-profit, non-profit, academic, and governmental partners across the USA, Africa, Polynesia, and Asia to drive global agricultural advancement.
Dr. Nathan Fumia brings deep expertise in plant breeding and genetics, agronomy, horticulture, and crop production. We integrate these traditional sciences with cutting-edge tools in bioinformatics, data science, and machine learning to deliver data-driven insights and sustainable agricultural solutions.
Our name refers to vascular land plants - the plant species that carry agricultural, botanical, and commercial value. That's our scope.

OUR MISSION

© Seed-market moringa variety bred and selected by Dr. Fumia.
Our mission at Higher Plants, LLC is to deliver rigorous, unbiased research that strengthens existing programs and helps our partners optimize their development opportunities and goals.
We design and execute field, lab, and in-silico studies with the same standard of evidence regardless of who funds them — so the results hold up when the stakes are real.
HOW WE WORK

We plug into your existing programs, teams, and timelines. Most engagements start with a scoping conversation about the decision you need to make, then work backward to the study that answers it — and end with results that hold up outside the room they were produced in.
We co-design the study; we don't co-author the conclusion. Protocols, endpoints, and analysis plans are set with you before data collection begins, and the results are what they are. Partners come to us from for-profit, non-profit, academic, and governmental programs, and scope can expand from a single trial to a multi-season pipeline as questions evolve.
